Get Green in every Color

Going green is becoming more and more popular, not to mention necessary. With the current state of the environment we should all do our part to help, so why not start with one of the easiest, most stylish, budget friendly ways to change a room...paint! Eco-friendly paints are now more readily available and they come in just as many great colors as any other paint choices. When looking for an eco-friendly paint be sure that it's low in VOC's (volatile organic compounds)which means it will be a water based paint; there are also clay, lime wash, and milk based paints available. For more details about these environmental friendly paints as well as to find out how and where to purchase them just click HERE. GO GREEN!
As you may know I love music, so check out Kira Willey's song "Colors"

Single Ladies! Must haves for the home

Get a flat screen television and show the guys that they're not the only ones who love tech toys, HGTV is a whole other experience when watched in high definition! You're screen may not be as big as theirs but then again who said size matters?! LOL

A girl has gotta have her favorite artwork. I personally prefer to custom paint all of the art in my home but I decided to share some work by one of my favorite artists, Rosemary Pierce-Lackey. I can watch art like I watch television, having a different emotion evoked each time I look at it, like seeing a picture for the first time every time.

Love the leather! Besides all single ladies owning a bad pair of leather boots, you have to have something leather for your home. I have a leather chair in my room that I kick back in, but you may choose leather pillows, curtains, or a sofa. Either way you'll add to your sexy swag with the look and feel and leather.

What girl doesn't love flowers? Even if you don't love flowers at least add plants or some type of life to your home ladies. I have orange daisies on my bedside table I LOVE THEM. Fresh flowers would be nice but when you can't keep that up go for the high end silk flowers and make it work, they'll add that final touch of femme.

As Seen on TV..."Say my Name"
While I was doing my post last night I started thinking about something I'd said; I can't tell you how many times I've been watching some random movie, show, or video and I take notice of the great design and classic furniture pieces that I spot. I thought it would be fun to share these things, so today I introduce to you the first of many posts that I'd like to call "As Seen on TV".Eames Molded Plastic Side Chair (Eiffel Chairs), Charles and Ray Eames, 1948
And as always for your viewing pleasure...check out the video in motion and the great design it encompasses!

L O V E

I had seen this pop art iconic representation of this four letter word many places, and had never given it a second thought as to were it came from. I decided to do a little research and this "symbol" was created by artist Robert Indiana and was first seen in a series of poems in 1958 before it was turned into a sculptured piece of aluminum in 1966. Since then the image has been reproduced countless times for everything from stamps and cards, to rugs, art posters, and t-shirts.

Many major metropolitian cities have housed the sculpture and reproductions of the sculpture on there streets for residents and visitors alike to admire the giant artwork whose figurative image has far outgrown any physical form that could ever be placed on it.

I could go on for forever about this so I'll just stop now! Here is Musiq Soulchild's video for "Love", notice how in the beginning of the video the letter "O" is turned as it is in Indiana's original productions.

Teach Me...Scrapbook Interior Ideas
Here I used the paper in a 9 square grid pattern to create what looks more like one piece. Be sure to measure so that there is even space between each sheet, I used double sided mounting tape to adhere the sheets to the wall. For a different look try mounting the paper to canvas boards that are the same size as each sheet of paper to have a 3-d effect. (Paint around the edges of the canvas so that it looks finished)
In this bedroom I used the paper to create a "headboard", I mounted the paper to the wall using white thumb tacks (to coordinate with the white furniture in the room). You could take this idea a step further and frame the headboard using wood molding, or even strips of chrome for a contemporary look.
Finally, here I used the paper to create a picture display wall. I didn't want to place pictures on every square because in my opinion that would have made the space appear cluttered. I used colorful thumbtacks to mount the squares to the wall. I was pleased with the final look.
I have more design ideas using scrapbook paper so check back to see what else you could do!
Most of the time I do these types of post for the love of music (I'm inspired by it), this case is no different, but I'd like to add that I love the shelves in this video and I happen to think the entire setting and visual concept is HOT!
