Think Pink!

I'm normally not a pink kinda girl, although I think it's a pretty color I don't know that I'd want the color as a part of my decor. I was talking to a friend and we both were saying that we'd never seen a room with hot pink walls...so I begin my search.

Here are a couple of COOL spaces featuring HOT pink walls!

Why is your favorite color, your FAVORITE color?

Why to we pick a favorite color?
What determines our favorite color?
What does our choice in color say about us?
These questions and more are answered in this article entitled "Why pick a favorite color?" found at Dewey Color Systems. You can also take a color test to find out what your favorite color is here. (Just click the link once you have been redirected to Dewey's website.)
Dewey says I'm RED...so this post's font pays homage to my favorite color...LOL

This group comes in all the colors shown above

This fun chair nestles directly into the sand to provide back support while you enjoy the beach.

Fraggle Rock

When I saw this ottoman by designer Karin Whittmann Willsmann I couldn't help but think of Jim Henson's "Fraggle Rock" series. I'm an 80's baby so I grew up watching Fraggle Rock and I thought the series was awesome, this ottoman reminds me so much of the series' characters hair. It's (the ottoman) is highly colorful and made from unworn, overstocked flip flop sandals. If you like what you see you can buy it here for $250.00 .
I don't know where the inspiration for this Ottoman came from but it's quite cool!

Their Way Vs. Eurway

Let me start by giving my disclaimer, "I, in no way, shape, form or fashion am trying to deter you from buying original designs, which in most cases are high quality products; but because most of the public cannot afford these items I'm simply trying to level the playing field." With that said, we shall proceed!
Take a look at these designer chairs versus the "designer inspired" chairs from Eurway. Can you tell the difference? Is the difference worth the hundreds of dollars you stand to save?
Click the price to see which is which.

$1035.00 Vs. $249.00

Put it in it's place

This shelving unit is a unique way to display and organize your cd's, books, and folders. There are slots of all sizes, and you can find the perfect item to house in it's correct place.
I'd spotted this shelf at ona's website awhile back but my interest in it was re-sparked when I saw it posted on betterlivingthroughdesign.com.
It's rather pricey at $1160.00, which was my reason for not posting it initially but oh well, we can all dream!

Chew on This

This is the "tooth lamp" which is a part of modernpoverty's tooth collection. It's a floor lamp in the shape of a tooth that can be your's for $175.00.

George Nelson's "Marshmallow Sofa"

Tis the time to revisit some classic modern design. The marshmallow sofa was originally designed George Nelson in 1956. The seat is constructed of a metal frame with 18 round upholstered cushions for support.
This piece, like many others of it's stature, has been reproduced and can be purchased through many outlets offering contemporary design pieces for the home. On average I've found the prices range from $575.00 to $2900.00. You may also find this piece in a wide range of hues as well as several fabric choices, leather and suede are most commonly used. The particular photos shown are courtesy of Hive.

Vibrant Designer Dinnerware

This Vivre dinnerware by Tracy Porter has some fun, vibrant, patterns and colors! I could already see my table setting. Click here to buy, this set is on sale right now and there are still some items that can be purchased individually that aren't on back order, so get it while it's hot!

Sitting Pretty

I LOVE these chairs, they've used such bold and creative prints to adorn these very traditional styled pieces! I featured one of these in a spotlight on Anthropologie before, but I thought they deserved their very own moment to shine.

Now I'll admit these chairs are not anywhere near reasonably priced for those on a budget, but I'd suggest shopping estate sales, or just buying a wingback chair then finding a fun print and having it professionally re-upholstered. Happy Shopping!

Petal to the Metal

I'm working on finding a steal for this bent metal creation known as the "petal chair" by PlushPod, what do you think of the chair?

Buckle Up

This pillow cover is made of reclaimed nylon seat-belt webbing...what a way to recycle. It comes in three colors and can be yours for $98.00.

Bubbles

This classic "bubble" chair was created by designer Eero Aarnio in 1968 and has made a major comeback with contemporary design being so popular. These chairs can be purchased to be hung from the ceiling by a chain (as pictured) or free-standing on a base or stand. I think they are very cool, and thought I'd share them with you. Now if only I had $3500 to share with you, you could have your very own!

Paisley Print Shower

I've always been a fan of paisley print, it tends to blend a range of colors together and the pattern works well to bring an eclectic vibe to a space. I love this shower curtain, although it looks a bit vintage I think it would work well in a number of settings. I wouldn't get the towels that are meant to go with the set, but I'd recommend using solid color towels to pull my favorite color(s) from the print.

What do you think about it?

Papa's Gotta a Brand New???

Don't forget dad this Father's day (June 17) although I've been busy with moving (pictures coming soon) I haven't forgotten about my father.

Now the question is, what do you get for a man that has everything and would be just as happy with nothing?

I'm not sure what the answer is but ZGallerie has some great gifts for dad's that are jazz lovers check it out.

Have a Ball

I've mentioned using these highly polished, metallic, decorative balls in posts that I've written in the past...I figured I should show you where you could buy them.

I'm still here...

I apologize to all my readers about the posts being so few and far between! Blogger has been acting up so I hadn't been able to pre-write any posts, I've been extremely busy at work, and I'm in the process of moving. I've been enjoying shopping for things for the new place and I can't wait to share pictures with you! I promise to have posts back to normal as soon as possible.

XOXO

Catch some Z's

I stumbled upon this picture of a "zig zag" or "z-chair" and I wanted to share it. This chair was originally designed in 1934 by Gerrit Rietveld. This particular chair is not for sell but there are other versions available to purchase anywhere from $450.00-$1500.00 each. I like, I like...but what do you think?
