Celebrate the Bar Code

Do not adjust your computer screen folks, today (like Google), hue is celebrating the bar code! The first bar code was patented on this date in 1952 by inventors Joseph Woodland and Bernard Silver.

Featured below is some A-MAY-ZING (I meant to put the y in amazing) celebrity photo artwork by Scott Blake created using bar codes.

Blake is shown in the photo above with the bar code image he created of Jesus.
You may remember a couple of weeks ago I featured a picture of a bar code I'd done...I think they look cool, hence my little creation lol

Pass me a bib

Chunky neck pieces also known as bib necklaces have become very popular recently, here are some, with a twist that I'd love to have. Although it seems these would be more perfect for the summer with a strapless solid shirt or dress, or maybe a solid tank and cute pair of distressed jeans and sandals...I've got to find a way to rock these this winter--turtleneck perhaps? Any ideas??

What a Tribute

Although there were a couple of interesting things that transpired during the 2009 VMA's, my favorite part of the show was the opening number, Michael Jackson's tribute. The dancing was awesome, Janet Jackson was so incredibly strong and fierce for her brother, and the caliber of her "background dancers" were MAD RIDICULOUS! Regardless of what took place from that point forward, the show was already memorable for many...I know I'll never forget it.

I don't know about anybody else but I cried when the performance was done, even harder the second time I watched it.

Here's the original video from 1995 featuring Janet and Micheal Jackson--classic

Pretty Sneaky...

I'd first off like to credit this post to Fly she is by far my favorite blog when it comes to creative design! I check her site several times a day and I'm always awed by the posts she does and the material she finds. She featured these bomb sneakers by PrettySneaky which I thought were so cute and creative I had to use a picture of them...don't you agree?!

I is for Individual

Today I realized how much I despise the word "yall", well not necessarily the word but the idea. Don't get me wrong, I was born and raised in the South and I realize "yall" can be a term of endearment and to most (including me) the word just flows naturally but there is a certain context that the word can be used in that makes it quite offensive. I realized when in a conversation today the person said "Yall..." which lead me to the thought "Exactly who are you referring to when you say yall?" I'm an individual whose make-up includes many things "yall women", "yall black people", "yall bloggers", "yall that have graduated from Southern University", "yall two parent home products", "yall with the short hair", "yall that have on green nail polish"--make yourself clear! If you want to pass judgement on me as an individual feel free, if you've formed an opinion about me as an individual that's you're right but by all means don't hide behind "yall" when really you're only talking to ME.

Head's up...Trend Alert

Okay, okay, so this trend isn't super new...but since I've decided to get in on it I thought it was far time that I did a post about it. I know the bff will appreciate this, since she (to my surprise) likes the headbands that are becoming increasingly popular! I love it when she likes weird stuff since she tends to tease me about being "different". Anyway I discovered this great Etsy shop that sells head pieces and other fancy gear to decorate your dome! Thanks Portobello for inspiring some happy shopping!

I've also developed a slight fascination with feathers...can't you tell!

I just couldn't help myself--

I had to let this lotus ring sneak it's way onto to this blog, don't you think it deserved honorable mention???

...and if I could get my hands on this ear candy (ahhhhhh)
