X Marks the Spot

I featured some of these rugs in my Tic-Tac-Toe post, and they've added more rugs to the selection. I think these are the coolest, they are so out of the ordinary!

Gray Matter

The color gray has hit the scene in a major way...lately I've been seeing gray hues in everything from home decor to runway shows and it's been picked as one of the hot paint colors by HG for 2007.

I had a reader who was planning on buying a gray sofa ask "what shades look good with gray", and to answer their question...ALL colors look good with gray if you pick the correct tones. What some people don't realize is that gray is like a neutral color, you can mix it with anything and it'll look good. The color wheels shown above are considered depictions of the "Real Color Wheel" on both the color and gray scales if you're familiar with using a color wheel this may be of some assistance.

I've put together rugs featuring various patterns and prints that include the color gray to show how well it works with different hues. The rugs below include both warm and cool colors mixed with different shades of gray.

I chose rugs as samples because rugs are a quick way to make a big change in a room. Once you change out a rug you can use the other colors included to choose pillows, other fabrics, artwork, and accessories that will go in your space.

Stephanie J Brown Artwork

I stumbled upon Stephanie J Brown's site and I absolutely LOVE her artwork. It's all so edgy and contemporary, which is right up my alley. Some of the pieces are out of my budget and because she's a UK artist you have remember to convert their currency to USD.

Although you may not be able to purchase her work at least you can be inspired by it, these were some of my favorite pieces below.

MoMA Mia

The MoMA Store has gifts for the "Modern Mom", you can check for yourself and see what you think.

The very versatile cube

Interior 51 sells cubes in a variety of colors. The two I found most attractive were the brushed aluminum and ebony finishes (Both happened to be pictured together).

Use them as tables or extra seating they're great either way.

Mother's day is May 13

Daughters (and sons) be good to your MOTHERS on that special day. There is two weeks before Mother's Day and you still have a chance to order the perfect gift and have it shipped in time. I've posted what I think are great contemporary gifts that don't break the bank, not that you should spare any expense, but either way I thought these were all really nice.

It don't matter if it's black or white

I won't use this blog as a platform of any kind...all I'm trying to express is great design ideas, but I think you can catch my drift. The two colors compliment each other quite nicely in my opinion and either way it doesn't matter if it's black or white!

This is bound to leave you Puzzled!

Bert en Dennis designed these chairs that are fashioned after puzzle pieces. This design duo is made up of Bert van der Grift and Dennis van der Burch and they create contemporary chairs and seating systems. These chairs have been out for awhile but I thought they were neat and wanted to post them on hue.

First spotted at MoCo Loco

These are also some other great puzzle furniture finds...

Smartistart designed these jigsaw tables (left) they are constructed of solid beech wood and are not pre-assembled so you have the pleasure of putting the "puzzle" together.

The tables are designed and made in the UK but you can click the image for pricing and information.

Check out these puzzle floors! They come in 13 finishes so you're sure to find something that suites you, and they are affordable...yaaay!

Not a fan of the puzzle floor? Well how about this puzzle rug from ona, I think it's hot!

How about a game of Scrabble

These furniture pieces spotted over at Neatorama were designed by Stephan Reed for the Bloomberg Offices in London, and were inspired by the popular Scrabble board game. How neat was this idea...I thought it was awesome.

The Fruit Ring

Once again I AM IN LOVE! These fruit rings by Joung Myung Lee are fabulous. A couple of weeks ago I did a post called "Fruit isn't just for eats...", in which I talked about finding contemporary ways to decorate with fruit. This is exactly the type of thing I was talking about using fruit as art...I LOOOVVVEEE IT!
Spotted over at Cooking Gadgets.

What's in your cart?

You're in your cart if you like this chair titled "Consumer's Rest" by Frank Scheiner. The chair is fashioned after a wire shopping cart right down to the wheels at the base. Is it practical??? Not for me, but I do think it's art therefore I can appreciate it...what do you think?

The scent of cherry blossoms

Lamps (I really h-e-a-r-t lamps)

It's no burger joint, but you can have it Eurway

Eurway is an Austin, Texas based company that offers various contemporary home furnishings and decor. They have recently released their "Cool" spring catalog (you can click the cover to view its online version). I love this store because of the fact that your everyday consumer can afford most if not all of these items. I've done posts featuring items from Eurway before and I can always count on them to have less expensive designer inspired items.

Not to vary from script here are my picks when it comes to accessories...

Texture II (canvas art)

Oblong Floor Lamp

Zero Vase

Rococo Rug
